Please pass this on to others who are on this path...

Hi everyone!

Welcome to each one of you - it’s an honor and pleasure to be able to share with you through these newsletters. I really enjoy the time spent each month, contemplating what I want to write as my gift to you.

I invite you to get curious about all of the ways that you share with others. Notice how it feels to give in ways that you enjoy and that replenish you. How active is your chattering mind during those really pleasurable times of pure giving?

Test this theory for yourself: as the chattering mind becomes quiet, there is space for the creative mind to come to the forefront and offer its juice.

It is my taking a stand for the ever-expanding unfoldment of your creative mind that I write the following...

The Chattering Mind

My invitation to you is to consciously spend time today observing the thoughts that pass through your mind - even if it’s just for five minutes. It might help you if you write those thoughts on paper. Reflect upon what you notice.

How much of these thoughts are focussed on expectations or desires? How common are the phrases "I wish" or "if only" as you pay attention to thought? How often do you hear yourself say: “I’m not enough”, “there isn’t enough”, “they’re not enough” or “it’s not enough”. In other words, how often do you focus on lack?

You might also have noticed that most thoughts are not original and are really about nothing, in particular.

There is a movement in our culture that says we should think positively. What have you noticed? Does it work to try to control thoughts? Or does it lead you to self-judgment and suffering for having certain thoughts in the first place?

Does pushing down the emotional charge that accompanies a thought either escalate it or bury it so that you feel numb and disconnected to what is really happening? Is it true that when you are stressed and emotionally triggered, it is particularly difficult to avoid going down the road of a story, a thought pattern that has a very familiar theme?

The reality is that thoughts simply pop into our awareness without any decision or effort on our part; it’s the human way. You cannot control what thought arises in the mind. And only suffering comes from believing you are what you think.

In reality, you are so much, much more. When you relax control and get connected to that which is present, that which is aware, that which you already are - you experience a sense of spaciousness, peace, and stillness that allows you to witness your thoughts with deep compassion.

As you slow down, release old points of view that have run your life, and keep the energy flow in the body clear and free, thoughts will still continue to occur. You will just have the capacity to not take them seriously. You will distrust the chattering mind.

It is then that the inspired and inspired mind comes into awareness, and you are able to creatively move through what life is asking of you. You are able to freely give your gifts.

Investing energy into finding tools to support you in this integration of your natural state with your humanity which is also present in your daily, busy life makes all the difference.

In the spirit of being complete and not finished,
Jeannie
